The Cytology department examines smears of stained cells usually for evidence of cancer. Much of the Cytology performed at Medlab is cervical smear testing (by either traditional smear or liquid based “Thin-Prep” methods), although other samples (urine, sputum, and aspirates) are also regularly tested. Fine needle aspirate collection and Frozen section testing are performed by our Pathologists by appointment.
